A Teen's Take

November 12, 2020

POMEROY–It’s kind of ironic last week I chose to write about the idea of fear and what it does to us. Little did I know that one week later so much would change. COVID-19 has knocked at our door in a big way and people are scared. It’s hard not to be. It’s understandable.

People close to me are getting tested for COVID-19 and may even have tested positive. That is a scary thing, but I think being fearful does little good. What makes a difference is being mindful how we each proceed with our actions like washing our hands and wearing a mask. These things will probably help.

To live your life in fear has become the norm. Isolating yourself from others to avoid a virus that as we have seen effects only a small segment of the population. Yes, we need to be careful and mindful of each other, but is it also important to continue to live life.

It would be nice to see faces and carry on a conversation with them, but so many feel it easier to just stay inside, locked away instead of going out and follow the guidelines to avoid exposure to COVID-19. Someone out there loves and misses you, and wishes they could see you, but I know we are not allowed to behave as we used to around each other. Unless you are at high risk, consider coming on out and live life the best way we can. We are going to have to learn how to live with this virus at some point.

I hope everyone has an amazing week!
