A Teen's Take

December 31, 2020

POMEROY–As I look back over the year, I see we, as a community, have experienced many changes in the way we do things and Christmas for our family, is a perfect example. You see, during this holiday season, my family and I moved to a new house. It’s an exciting thing, but can also be very stressful, especially during Christmas.

We decided, as a family, to postpone gift-giving so we could focus on getting items needed for our rooms and other things for the new house. At first, I was kind of disappointed with the idea, but after a while I started to appreciate it. It made our Christmas in a different way…after all, it is 2020.

I think the challenging part about moving is the weather; loading and unloading boxes and furnishings in 20-degree temperatures isn’t necessarily pleasant, in fact, it is downright f-f-f-frrrreeeeezing!

The best part of moving is the people who come to assist, either with packing, loading, unloading, cleaning or whatever. I am so grateful for those people. We would be nowhere without their physical, mental and emotional support. Moving isn’t always enjoyable, but these people make it so much better.

You never realize how much stuff is in your house until you have to pack up every crack and crevice, drawer and cupboard, and take it to a new house. It can be a big eye-opener at times. I think the anticipation of being in our new home is going to be so worth it, that is if it doesn’t to kill me first.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and everyone is looking forward to a better new year. See you all in 2021!
