POMEROY–Garfield County Hospital District is proud to announce January's Employee of the Month, Stephanie Miller, Accountant. She was nominated by her co-workers who say, "She is a great asset to the staff."

She was born in Boise, Idaho and raised in Ontario, Oregon. At age 15, her family moved to Nampa, Idaho and she graduated from Nampa High School in 1995. In the fall of 1996, she attended an accelerated program at Boise State University and graduated a year later.

Her first office job was working for a temp agency, which lead to a fulltime position with Fly Logic, a fly-fishing company out of Melba, Idaho as an Administrative Assistant. Approximately a year later, Stephanie relocated to California and eventually entered the field of Retail, working for Mervyn's Department Store and within six months was promoted to Department Manager. She later transferred to Boise, continuing in her managerial position, until 2003.

Transitioning into the financial world was not a hard decision for Stephanie. Her introduction began early in life. "My heritage is in accounting, it's just in my blood, all through my father's and my mother's side." Both her great grandmother and grandmother were bookkeepers and her father was a CPA who owned his own accounting firm. On her mother's side, her grandfather was an entrepreneur involved in various businesses. In addition to this inherent history, three of her sisters are in the accounting field as well.

Stephanie's first accounting position began with The Nichols Accounting Group, CPA Firm in February of 2003 and extended through to December of 2017, just shy of 15 years. In this role, she worked with many different clients, taking care of their payroll and accounting needs and working closely with the CPA's within the firm. Throughout the years, she worked within multiple industries that varied from manufacturing, construction, real estate, to long-term assisted care.

In December of 2017, Stephanie made a decision to step away from her career to devote her full attention on homeschooling her two youngest children for the next two years. During this time, also worked as a contractor completing accounting work for a local Presbyterian church in Nampa, Idaho. While visiting with their daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and Nic Bartlow and to greet their new grandson. Stephanie and husband, Kurt, fell in love with Pomeroy and immediately began praying about making pivotal career changes and plans to be near family. Stephanie resigned from her position with the church and was then asked to return to The Nichols Accounting Group in June of 2019, to work remotely from Pomeroy with their e-commerce division, specializing in Amazon Seller accounting. Curt transitioned from his career as an Engineer with Micron in Boise, Idaho to accept a position as a Deputy with the Garfield County Sheriff's Department.

Stephanie joined the Hospital District as the Accountant in February of 2020 and has become an invaluable part of the finance team. She has an impeccable work ethic, is highly respected, and is always striving to do her best, even in the midst of all the challenges. "She has put on two hats this month and always has a smile when doing it." "She is eager to assist and help wherever and whenever needed. With everything going on, Stephanie is still a light and shows everyone her caring side." "She truly a blessing to our District!" Please join us in honoring her for being an exceptional, outstanding, and tremendous asset to our team!
