March 11, 2021

POMEROY–Local Gun Club members had fair conditions this past weekend with the Junior shooters doing well on Saturday but the Adults faced some gusty winds at times on Sunday that affected targets.

The 12-year-old and younger kids were led by Byron Collier in the 16-yard event with a score of 19 during the Saturday events. Levi Bowen managed an 18. Braxton McKeirnan had the top Handicap score with a 16 and Collier posted a 15.

Gunner Magill and Olliver Severs headed up the Sub Junior Division in singles with scores of 23. Severs also had a 23 in Handicap and Gunner Magill posted a 22.

Tyson Kimble put up a near perfect 24, missing just one target, to lead the Junior shooters in Singles. Troy Steele had a 23 in that Division while Carson Zimmerman, Logan Ledgerwood, Junior Magill, and Caleb Barron all had 22s. Barron led the group in Handicap with a 20, while Ledgerwood and Kimble had 19s.

Holly Ledgerwood put herself in a good position on Sunday, to make the Camas Prairie Ladies All Star Team with her second perfect 25 of the 10-week competition and it was the only perfect score of the weekend in the 16-yard event. Mason Blachly missed one Target for a 24 and Buck Geiger, Larry Bunch, Don Perrigin, Travis Ledgerwood, Mike Hastings, Bryan McKeirnan, and Mitch Ruchert all missed two Targets for scores of 23. In Adult Handicap McKeirnan flirted with perfection with a 24 for the third week in a row. Larry Bunch and Beau Blachly had 23s, while Ken Bott posted a 22.

In the Continental competition Buck Geiger and Luke Ledgerwood had 24s and Wayne Tetrick and Justin Dixon shot 23s.

Bunch was the top Doubles shooter for the week with his second consecutive 46. Travis Ledgerwood had a 43 and Buck Geiger posted a 41.

Next week on March 13–14, is the last shooting event of the Camas Prairie 10-week competition. Then the following weekend many shooters from the region will participate in the Camas Prairie Registered shoot at the Walla Walla Gun Club on March 19–21.

The Pomeroy Juniors gained some ground on other Clubs in week eight of the competition but they remain in 8th place. The Senior Club is in 20th place in the 24 Club field.
