POMEROY–The local service club, Spinners, submitted a plan for the annual Easter Egg Hunt which was approved by Garfield County Public Health Administrator Martha Lanman prior to the recent move into Phase III.

Now that Washington State has moved into Phase III, allowing open air events of 400 or less active participants, and has received approval by Garfield Public Health District, the annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place exclusively for local children in an age segregated manner on April 4, 2021.

In an email to the East Washingtonian, Garfield County Commissioner Larry Ledgerwood, who is also Spinners Treasurer, stated "part of our initial plan is that we will not advertise the event with social media or in the newspaper as Garfield County has been eight days COVID free now and we want to keep it that way. The Spinners do not want to draw a large number of out-of-town people to Pomeroy for the event."

The Spinners will work with the school and LEEP Center to notify children ages 0-12 years of age with a series of flyers in the two weeks leading up to Easter to ensure our local children and families know about the event and how it will function. "It will likely be very different than prior years as we strive to offer the event and protect our community during this pandemic," said Ledgerwood.
