Pirate outside hitter Chloe Mayfield, a SE 1B All League pick, was prized for her utility by Head Coach Adam Van Vogt.

POMEROY––Senior Pirate outside hitter Chloe Mayfield has been named to the Southeast 1B District 9 All-League Volleyball team. Mayfield was the sole Lady Buccaneer selection to the 14-player honor team.

"I am super honored to receive this award," Mayfield informed the East Washingtonian this week. "It feels great to receive it my senior year. It sure softens the blow of leaving high school and the sport that I love."

Mayfield put up some good stats this covid-shortened season, according to Head Coach Adam Van Vogt. Over the season, she served 93%, 110 of 118 services, he said, "while spot serving and serving aggressively." Mayfield scored 22 aces, shot 36 kills, made 56 digs and 14 assists.

"Chloe is a volleyball player in the truest sense," Van Vogt said, "and what I mean by that is she able to take any position and fill any need we had and do it well.

"A lot of players get used to playing a position," he continued, "but Chloe could play any position. Her versatility sets her apart.

"I really appreciated getting to coach her this year," Van Vogt said. "She had a great attitude. She was a great leader for us."

Others on the All League roster were LouEllen Reed, Oakesdale; Ashlynn Archer, SJEL; Gianna Anderson, Oakesdale; Rylee Vining, Colton; Colby Swannack, SJEL; Josie Schultheis, Colton; Jessie Reed, Oakesdale; Kenzi Pederson, Gar-Pal; Payton Davis, Oakesdale; Maci Brantner, Gar-Pal; Maggie Meyer, Colton; Kyra Holt, SJEL; and Bree Rawls, Oakesdale.

LouEllen Reed was named Player of the Year.

Jenn Johnson, SJEL, was named Coach of the Year.
