Middle School varsity boys win

GARFIELD–The Pirate Middle School Varsity boys basketball team won one of three hard-fought games here March 23, with the jayvees and C Squad falling to the Raiders.

The Varsity boys took the lead and didn't give it up in spite of a fourth-quarter run by Gar-Pal, said Coach Bob Wolf, winning by 15 points, 47-32.

Jett Slusser was hot with 23 points and Jacob Reisinger scored 12. Cesar Morfin chipped in six points, Boone Schmidt four and Kyzer Herres two. Also playing were Reggie Ott, Gunner Magill, and Grayson Slaybaugh.

The JV boys kept fans on the end of their seats but lost in overtime, 25-21. Scoring was even across the players: Levi Bowen 4, Braxton McKeirnan 6, Peyton Cannon 4, Robbie Van Vogt 2, Greg Weatherspoon 5. Also playing were Vinny Vecchio, Tyler Matheny, Ivan Weatherspoon.

The C boys lost 7-6. Scoring were Kole Zimmerman 4, Sam Wolf 2. Also playing were Michael Thorson, Cayle Mullins, Eli Elwell, Lucian Setzer, Michael DeBord, and Ismael Arteaga.
