POMEROY–Local High School senior Emma Severs signed a letter of intent to play for the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) Sasquatch during the school's morning assembly on April 21.
Pomeroy High School Principal Amy Miller first brought Severs to the attention of Jessica Kramer, Women's Basketball Head Coach for CCS, in 2019. Kramer has been watching Severs play and likes what she's seen. "She can flat out shoot the ball," Kramer said. "But more than that she's a good teammate. I'm building a family, with hard workers and team players who cooperate and support each other. That's the kind of player I want on my team, and Emma is that kind of player." Kramer congratulated Severs for pushing through her injuries to continue playing basketball. When asked to say a few words Severs said "I just want to thank everyone who supports the players and comes to the games."
Severs's coaches and parents sat with her while her fellow students cheered her on from the bleachers. "You all know how much I love Emma," said Assistant Coach Gena Severson. "We'll miss you."
