POMEROY–The Garfield County Hospital passed a motion to set aside $60,000 for the purchase of ultrasound equipment at their meeting on May 3. They hope to have the equipment available two days a week. An ultrasound technician has expressed interest in working for the Hospital, but no official announcement has been made.

The Hospital's Wanderguard system, an alarm that sends alerts when patients wearing a special bracelet come to near a door, has become unreliable and needs to be replaced. A bid has come in for $9,200.21. No action was taken by the board.

In other Board business, the fairground vaccine days will be less frequent, due to a lowering number of people coming. They will be held May 14 and 21, and continue every other Friday. The total number of vaccine shots administered by the Hospital is 1,535.

The motor for the heat pump at the Pomeroy Medical Clinic seized and will be replaced by Lazer Heating & A/C out of Clarkston.

The Hospital is still allowing visitors for extenuating circumstances only, on a case-by-case basis. There are church services being held live for patients and residents again, as well as bingo games.

The tele-cardiology program has a projected go-live date of May 27, but some equipment has not yet arrived and training may delay the starting date.
