POMEROY–The Garfield County Health District announced the success of the creative kids program at their meeting on July 26. Program manager Jessica Nelson has been helping children tend the garden beds around the Pomeroy Elementary School. The children meet twice a month to weed the beds. The Health District is happy with the turnout. The last meeting had 10 children in attendance.

Three resolutions were passed at the meeting. Resolution 2021-16 changes the dates on the consolidated contract to keep it in agreement with changing regulations. Resolution 2021-17 updates the inter-local youth marijuana prevention agreement with Walla Walla County. It extends the agreement from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. The agreement provides the Health District $8,500 towards marijuana prevention. Resolution 2021-18 extends an agreement with Spokane County to provide online facilities for acquiring food handler’s permits from 2021 to 2026.
