It has been over a year since the local dance group performed at the Seeley Theater due to the mandated COVID shutdowns. Alyssa's Dance Studio debuted 64 dancers who performed ballet, jazz and tap routines for an eager and awaiting audience. POMEROY – Alyssa's Dance Studio performed their recital at the Seeley Theater on July 29. The students performed ballet, jazz, and tap dance routines. There were 64 dancers, ranging in age from three to 18 years. The community turnout packed the Seeley, from the front row to the balcony. It was the first program the Seeley Theater has put on since closing for lockdown in 2020.
"Being back in the Seeley was really special," teacher Alyssa Wolf said. "It's where I did my dancing." Wolf danced during her childhood with Angie Gates. In the three years she has taught dancing, Wolf said she has seen a steady increase in student numbers.
Matt Newberg, father of dancer Peyton Newberg, was so impressed with the dancing that he is offering all dancers a small ice cream cone at The Bean Counter in Meyer's Hardware.
