Covid outbreak turns sports schedule upside down

POMEROY––Student-athletes who play for St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse have gone to remote instruction due to coronavirus, canceling football and volleyball games with Pomeroy this week in a situation that is dynamic and fluid, according to Toddette McGreevy, athletic director.

McGreevy advises that sports fans should keep current with schedule changes. Adjustments to games announced Monday by McGreevy may be changed during the week due to the nature of covid outbreaks.

This week there were several schedule adjustments and changes.

Last Tuesday’s volleyball match at SJEL has been canceled and a home game against the Lady Eagles set for Saturday, October 9, game time at noon, The previously scheduled non-league game against Asotin was canceled.

On the cross country front, a previously scheduled October 14 event had been the Troy Invitational and it is now the Prairie H.S. Invite in Cottonwood, Id., which starts with the middle school race at 3:45 p.m.

On Oct. 22, D9 X-C Championships have been moved from Plantes Ferry to Pomeroy’s Lybecker Field and Crystal Springs Golf Course, starting at 2 p.m.

The kick off time for the October 22 game in Toppenish versus the Yakama Tribal Nation School has been rescheduled to 3 p.m. due to a shortage of officials. The game will be played at the Toppenish Middle School field.
