Non-vaccinated firefighters will not be allowed on Fire District vehicles

POMEROY–Garfield County Fire District No.1 commissioners announced the cut-off date for Covid-19 vaccinations at their meeting on October 12. Non-vaccinated staff without exemption alternatives already in place will no longer be able to ride on District vehicles starting midnight on October 18.

The commissioners voted to change the date of the release of yearly stipends. The stipends will be part of November's payroll, instead of the December payroll.

Two training conferences have been scheduled for next spring: Brian Snure's training conference on April 30, 2022 will involve public record training. Snure is a lawyer for several volunteer fire departments. The Saturday Conference, on June 4, 2022 takes place in Lake Chelan and is a general education conference.

Fire Chief James Cleveland announced that a new sign will be installed, directing people to the office. He cited the cause of several instances where visitors became confused as to the office's location.
