Pirate XC finish season with good effort

COLFAX–Pomeroy’s four-man Cross Country team ran in the District 7/9 Regionals here Saturday, October 30 and counted individual improvements for two on the team, but the team’s placing in the 110-runner field resulted in the season ending without advancement to the State XC Meet.

“Our athletes did a great job as Trevin [Walton] and Cash [Copher] both were able to obtain new PRs for the season, while Brady [Bott] came within three seconds of his season PR,” said Head Coach Greg Sharp.

Pirate XC runner Trevin Walton’s time of 21:16.29 and Cash Copher’s time of 22:25.05 were new personal records. Walton came in 79th among 1B runners, and Copher was 92nd.

Brady Bott finished the 3.1-mile course in 91st place, just nine seconds ahead of Copher, with a time of 22:16.32.

Pirate XCer Samuel Lamb was 99th with a time of 24:13.05

Davenport’s Jaeger Jacobsen finished at the top of the pack with a time of 16:11.91. Other District 9 XC runners how earned a state berth were Mitchell Hangean of Liberty-Spangle, whose time of 17:01.69 was good enough for a 12th place finish. In 21st place was Kieran Snekvik of Garfield-Palouse, whose time of 17:41.33 was the final state qualifier.
