November 11, 2021

POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County board of commissioners accepted the ZeroDB bid for design work on the Pataha fiber project at their meeting on November 2. The company was the only bidder and the accepted bid was for $30,000 flat fee, with subsequent work not to exceed $10,000. The designing work will begin as soon as possible, to allow the fiber to be ordered soon. There is currently a 52 week waiting period on fiber orders.

The commissioners also signed a renewal of the lease with Pomeroy Grain Growers. The cost will continue at $15,000 a year, with the shared cost of dolphin replacement when it becomes necessary.

Port Director Diana Ruchert will sign an attachment to the United States Forest Service lease agreement, agreeing to comply with the Federal mandate regarding vaccination policy. All employees who enter the building leased by the USFS will be vaccinated.

The Port decided to remain with the Washington Counties Insurance Fund for the next year in spite of rate increases to avoid loss of coverage due to the short application window.
