November 25, 2021

POMEROY–The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) approved resolutions 2021-20 and 2021-21 which increases the tax levy rate by 1% at the November 22 meeting. Resolution 2021-20 applied to the general levy and increased by $7,872.79 for a total of $801,403.86 to be collected. Resolution 2021-21 applied to Garfield County Road District and increased by $8,653.05 for a total of $897,502.35 to be collected.

The BOCC also adopted Juneteenth as an official holiday. The decision was based on county policy to adopt holidays on the basis of State Governor's actions. Since Juneteenth was adopted by Governor Jay Inslee, it will also be a holiday in Pomeroy. The commissioners responded to the ongoing employee negotiations with a 5% cost of living wage increase and the Juneteenth holiday.
