Garfield County receives grant from Shepherd Foundation

December 2, 2021

POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) read a grant request acceptance letter from the Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation at their meeting on November 29. The funds granted to the County are $17,085 to be apportioned to the county departments.

A public hearing was held for the six–year and annual construction plans. Members of the community attended to give their input into the plans. The large rocks in the Tatman Mountain road were mentioned as well as projected construction on Bell Plain road.

The difficulty of safety on primitive roads with the ever-growing size of farming equipment was also brought forward. County Engineer Grant Morgan said his priority is “maintaining our main gravel roads and the safety in the primitive roads”.

The Garfield County Employee’s Group accepted the commissioners’ offer of a 5% cost of living raise and the new Juneteenth holiday, ending the wage negotiations.
