POMEROY– The Pomeroy City Council passed a levy certification, ordinance 924, 923; resolutions 2021-7 and 2021-8; and signed Keller Associates agreement at the meeting on December 7.

The City approved a levy certification to increase the property tax by 1% in the amount of $187,743.47. This also includes new construction and state utilities numbers that are part of the levy.

The Council also passed ordinance 924, which establishes the 2022 budget for the city.

They also passed ordinance 923 and resolutions 2021-7 and 2021-8 which increase the prices for water and sewage, golf rates, and pool use rates. The water will increase to a quarterly rate of $129, sewer to a quarterly rate of $115, golf to a daily 9-hole rate of $15, and pool to a daily rate of $3. Golf and pool passes have also increased.

The Council also signed an agreement with Keller Associates for their professional services to design the plan for the Complete Streets lighting project. The funding for the project is a grant that must be used by March 31, 2022.

Judge Tom Cox attended to bring speeding on Arlington Street to the Council's attention. He voiced his concern over the excessive speeds he has seen vehicles use in close proximity to children playing, and asked the Council to consider placing a pair of stop signs along the street. The Council agreed that it is a concern and has been for many years. Pomeroy Mayor G. Paul Miller recalled writing a ticket for a speeder going 70 mph on Arlington when he was in law enforcement.

Councilman Jim Harris praised the city crew. "Atta boy to all the crew members this year." Harris said. "They did a good job."
