Another OT win

POMEROY–The “Heart-Attack Kids” won a third overtime game in four outings, the Lady Pirates’ 42-41 win over Oakesdale last week coming with a fraction of a second remaining via a Keely Maves free throw. See the schedule on this page for record and upcoming games.

“Keely Maves never let down on offense tonight and worked through being double- and triple-teamed most of the night,” said Coach Tai Bye. Maves finished with a double-double: 28 points, 10 boards, 3 steals.

Oakesdale’s two-point, first-quarter lead was nibbled to a 33-33 tie by the fourth quarter, and both teams scored six in the final stanza. Pomeroy won the OT 3-2.

“My girls never stopped fighting and just kept chipping away,” Bye said.

Point guard Jillian Herres controlled the game, Bye said, scoring two, rebounding five, dishing five and stealing four. Chase Caruso hit a three on the way to nine points and rebounds, and five steals.
