Medic 30 will become backup ambulance

March 24, 2022

POMEROY–The Garfield County Fire District No. 1 commissioners held a special meeting to discuss repairs to the Medic 30 ambulance on March 15.

The ambulance has had diagnostics run and is believed to have a cracked head. Any further diagnostics would require an engine tear down, which could cost upwards of $7,000. The commissioners decided to bring Medic 30 back to the GCFD garage and use it as the backup third ambulance, only using it in Pomeroy city limits. The process of getting a new ambulance will be advanced with the goal of ordering one in 2023.

The District will continue to take non-emergency transfers from the Garfield County Memorial Hospital.
