Pig out on books!

March 31, 2022

POMEROY–The Elementary Schools kicked-off the first annual "Pig Out on Books" reading challenge for one week which started last Friday, March 25.

The goal for each student is to read 200 minutes in one week, with an elementary school goal of 40,000 minutes. Each student will keep track of their own reading time. At the end of the challenge, prizes will be awarded passed on total minutes. For 30 minutes a piggie eraser; 60 minutes pig-themed water bottle sticker and for 120 minutes a pig spat ball. The grand prize for students who read 200 minutes is a trip to the Pig Out Bookstore to choose a free book.

Junior and Senior High School students have volunteered to manage the bookstore and dress up as pig mascots throughout the week. Elementary student council members have volunteered to read with the primary students.

The Pig Out on Books programs is made possible by a grant from the Shepherd Foundation.

Closing Assembly for Pig Out on Books is Friday, April 1, 2022 at 8:15 a.m.
