Pavement sealing on Upper Deadman to get underway

April 7, 2022

POMEROY–County Engineer Grant Morgan reported the start date for the pavement sealing project on the upper Deadman at the Garfield County Commissioners meeting on April 4. The project will begin on April 25, and the County Road Crew is currently working on widening shoulders of the road in preparation. Nine miles will be sealed with a varying depth of two to four inches of pavement. The changes of depth will help to level the road.

Prices for road paint have dramatically increased. The budgeted cost in 2022 is $58,000 but actual cost will be $72,000. Engineer Morgan stated the need for painting to go ahead, citing the safety of the roads and the two-year gap since last painting.
