Pirate pitcher Keely Maves went had two hits-including a double-and notched an RBI in Pomeroy's 11-1 win over Prairie on March 31. The Lady Pirates are 1-3 in 1B Southeast-East and 2-5 overall.

RICHLAND–The Lady Pirates were outgunned by the Liberty Christian Lady Patriots in a road-trip twin-bill last weekend, losing 9-4 and 10-0.

"We played hard," observed Head Coach Sonia Hevener. "We just came up short."

The Lady Bucs travel to DeSales April 12 and Sunnyside on April 14 when play resumes after Spring Vacation.

Pomeroy built a three-run lead by the top of the third, but LC rallied with two runs in the third and six in the fourth, going on to win 9-4. LC's defense blanked the Lady Pirates in the fourth through sixth innings, and squelched a seventh-inning rally.

Keely Maves got two hits in three plate appearances, and two RBIs, and Jillian Herres and Kaylee Schmidt both were one for four at the plate. Schmidt had an RBI.

In the nightcap, the Lady Bucs committed five errors and Liberty had a six-run second inning to hand Pomeroy a 10-0 defeat in five innings.

Hits were by Maves and Taylor Gilbert.

Gilbert smashed a two-run home run on Pomeroy's way to an 11-9 win when Prairie visited on March 31.

"We were very aggressive and confident at the plate," Hevener said.

Gilbert, Maves, Schmidt and Isabella Field all had two hits, with Maves and Schmidt each hitting a two-bagger and an RBI. Field's two of four at the plate included three RBIs.

Liberty Spangle was firing on all cylinders in Pomeroy March 29, steadily counting runs until an eight-run burst in the sixth inning for a 16-1 loss that the Lady Pirates couldn't come back from.

Maves in the circle and the Pirate defense couldn't hold off Liberty, which had a 4-0 lead at three innings and slammed the door with 12 more runs in the fourth through sixth innings.

Herres and Ruchert counted Pomeroy's two runs, Ruchert getting a double and the team's sole RBI. Stephens hit a home run for Liberty.
