Health District to have new Program Coordinator

April 21, 2022

POMEROY–The Garfield County Health District board accepted Jessica Nelson’s resignation as Program Coordinator at their meeting on April 18. A new Program Coordinator will be hired, and Nelson will continue to provide food inspection and training services. The Health District passed resolution 2022-09 to create a contract with Nelson as a Food/Environmental Health Specialist and Program Coordinator Support.

The District board also passed resolution 2022-08, an extension to Registered Dietician services contract with St. Joseph Medical Center.

Due to legislation, the Health District board makeup will include a new member from the community and will hold a place open for a representative of the American Indian Health Department if they wish to put one on the board. Along with these charter changes, Administer Martha Lanman recommended changing the name from Garfield County Health District to Garfield County Public Health District. The reason she stated was to create a different acronym from the Garfield County Hospital District to alleviate confusion. The board members were in agreement, and the change will take place.
