Non-injury accident on the Alpowa Grade

POMEROY––Garfield County Fire District No. 1 and Asotin Fire District No. 1 were called to attend a one car, one-person non-injury accident on Highway 12 west of Clarkston, Wash., on Saturday, May 7.

Asotin County Fire District No. 1 fire and rescue crews were called about 4 p.m. to help Garfield County Fire District No. 1 with a one-vehicle accident on the Alpowa Grade, approximately 15 miles west of Clarkston.

It appeared the driver was heading westbound on Highway 12 and left the right side of the roadway, collided with a rock outcropping then rolled. The driver had to be cut out of the car by emergency service personnel and then was transported by Lifeflight to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Highway 12 was blocked in both directions for about an hour while Washington State Patrol started investigating.

There were no other reported injuries. Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident.
