CLARKSTON–Three Pomeroy Pirate golfers–Chase Caruso, Brady Bott and Jett Slusser–will advance to the 1B State Golf Match at Deer Park May 27-28.

Caruso continued her streak of golf-match wins by firing a career-best 82 for a two-day total of 166 to capture the Girls District Championship. "Chase was steady all day, tee-to-green, and very good with her putter as well," commented Head Coach Al Damron.

"The prospects are good for the Pirates at next week's state tourney," he added.

Bott has rebounded from a fractured wrist earlier this season to win a berth at the state tourney. Bott was second in the boy's division with a 189. "Brady appears to be fully recovered from his pre-season broken wrist," Damron said.

Also advancing to state play will be Jett Slusser. He scored a 208 for sixth place.

Going with the team as an alternate will be Kiersten Bartels. She finished fifth and carded a 126 for a two-day total of 254.

Elena Morfin finished with a 139 last Monday and totaled 268.

DeSales High School's Jack Lesko was the boy's medalist with 89 and total of 173.
