Race forms for Garfield Co. Sheriff

POMEROY––Filing week is concluded and there will be a race for the office of county sheriff with incumbent Drew W. Hyer filing to run for re-election with a challenger Kurt Miller filing as a candidate. Both Hyer and Miller filed as Republicans.

In other county offices, incumbents filed for re-election with no challengers.

Justin E. Dixon will seek another term as County Commissioner 3 on the Republican ticket. Auditor McKenzie Lueck filed to run for a four-year term and states no party preference. Brian S. Bartels will be on the ballot as an unopposed Republican for Assessor. Tereasa Summers is the sole candidate to file for the office of Treasurer representing the Democratic party.

On the judicial side, Thomas W. Cox is seeking re-election as Garfield County District Court Judge, a nonpartisan post. Marie Gormsen will be the unopposed Republican candidate for County Clerk and incumbent Prosecuting Attorney Matt L. Newberg will be the only candidate listed on the ballot. He filed as a Republican.

For the Ninth District, incumbents Mary Dye of Pomeroy and Joe Schmick of Colfax have filed for re-election to the House of Representatives, both as Republicans.

Precinct Committee Officers who filed are Diane L. Koller, Lisa Dixon, Anne K. Gingerich, Martha Ann Klaveano, E. Lynn Leaverton, David L. Webb, Shirley L. Fischer, Camela G. McKinley and Michelle Wolf, all as Democrats.
