POMEROY-The Port of Garfield County commissioners discussed the Snake River Dams Benefit Replacement report and upcoming lease expirations and a Washington Public Ports Association press release at their meeting on June 21.
The June 10 WPPA press release discusses the Lower Snake River Dams Benefit Replacement report requested by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee and Senator Patty Murray. The press release states “the report does not make a recommendation on dam breaching, instead focusing on the immense costs associated with it-from $10.3 billion to $27.2 billion.” It also states the benefits the dams provide, including power, transportation, and recreation. “The draft report is open for public comment until July 11, 2022 and WPPA encourages you to participate. The report along with links to submit comments can be found at lsrdoptions.org,” the press release said.
The lease for the building currently occupied by the Unites States Forest Service will expire September 30, 2023. The USFS has begun proceedings to create a new 20 year lease with 10 years firm. The process for this lease is quite convoluted and will take some time to create.
Krey Miller has given notice that he will not sign a renewed lease on the Spec Building. He will be billed on a month-to-month basis until he vacates.
