James Edward DeShirley

July 11, 1947–June 22, 2022

With great sadness, the family of James DeShirley announces his passing on June 22, 2022, at the age of 74.

Jim was born in Hood River, Ore., to Claude and RuthAnn DeShirley. He spent his childhood in Pomeroy, Wash., and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1965.

He served in the US Air Force and married Barbara Feider in 1970. He is a graduate of Washington State University (1979) and worked for 25 years for the Bonneville Power Administration as an Electrical Engineer in the Portland area.

In addition to being a devoted father and husband, Jim was also a talented computer repairman and carpenter and lent his time and talents to many different volunteer organizations through the years. Some of these included Boy Scouts of America, Friends of the Carpenter, and St. Vincent de Paul. James was an active member of St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church in Vancouver, Washington.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his children, Jennifer (Lee) Evans and Jonathon (Lori) DeShirley and granddaughters Elisabeth Evans and Chloe DeShirley. He is also survived by his sisters Kathie Bruderer and Jeanne Presnell.

The funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Vancouver, Wash., on July 8, 2022, He will be buried at Ft. Vancouver National Cemetery.
