Timberwolves cry "uncle!" after two quarters

October 13, 2022

TEKOA–The Tekoa-Oakesdale Timberwolves came into the game in a hurting way and the Pirates wasted no time in taking control, scoring five first-quarter touchdowns and seeing the game called at the break, 62-0.

The Pirates in 4-1 in league and standing in fourth place behind Sunnyside Christian (3rd), DeSales (2nd) and undefeated Liberty Christian (6-0). Garfield-Palouse visits Lybecker Field this Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

"Our defense has been playing very well, giving up a total of eight points over their last four games," observed Head Coach Kyle Kimble, "and holding four of their six opponents scoreless on the season. We also made some adjustments on offense that allowed us to take advantage of some things we'd seen on defense as well. Additionally, our special teams had a great day as well, pinning them deep on kickoff a few times and recovering a loose ball on a pooch kick."

Sidney Bales scored five rushing touchdowns on seven carries, counting 114 yards, and caught a 43-yard pass from Trevin Kimble for another touchdown.

Kyzer Herres rushed for two second-quarter touchdowns before the game was called.

Trace Roberts counted four solo tackles, and Walker Flynn and Boone Schmidt notched three solo tackles. Four Pirates had one apiece: Bales, Magill, Colby Ledgerwood and Jacob Reisinger.
