Garfield County Public Health District officially adopted as new name

October 20, 2022

POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Health District approved a bylaw change; adopted an amendment to the Consolidated Contract with the Washington State Department of Health; and accepted a proposal for assessment survey work at their meeting on October 17.

The District board approved Resolution 2022-21, to officially change their name from Garfield County Health District to Garfield County Public Health District. This change was done to avoid acronym confusion with Garfield County Hospital District.

Resolution 2022-20 was passed, accepting a $30,040 proposal from Heidi Berthoud Consulting for an assessment survey for Garfield County.

Resolution 2022-22 was also approved. It is an amendment to the DOH consolidated contract that requires reporting to begin on use of Federal Emergency Management Agency funds associated with Covid-19. While it is a state-wide required amendment, it does not directly affect Garfield County as the Public Health District did not accept any FEMA funding and therefore is not affected by the required reporting.

Also discussed was the dates for vaccine clinics at the Garfield County Fairgrounds. Clinics on October 21 and 28 will offers both Covid-19 and flu vaccines, but October 31 is the projected date for Governor Jay Inslee to lift the State of Emergency order for Washington State, which will necessitate changes in mass vaccine clinics, among 73 other rules.
