POMEROY–The Lady Pirates' final match, the Senior Night game played last Tuesday, carried implications for post-season play. Pomeroy was 15-6 heading into the final game.

A season-ending win over Garfield-Palouse would give the Lady Buccaneers sole possession of second place in the Wheat Division, due to the pre-season draw and because Pomeroy split with SJEL, winners of last week's away match. Earlier this season, the Lady Bucs beat Gar-Pal on their floor, 3-1.

In case of a Pomeroy win, the Lady Pirates would most likely host the Prescott Lady Tigers, the number three place out of the 1B Grape Division, at home at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 1. Should the Senior Night match be a loss, SJEL would be firmly in second place and Pomeroy in third, so the game would be versus Sunnyside Christian at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 1.

St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse won three close sets, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18, Oct. 20 in St. John.

"We had good stretches in each game and all of the games were close late but errors down the stretch cost us in all of them," said Head Coach Adam Van Vogt. "I thought we battled hard in a tough environment against a quality opponent where it seemed a lot of calls didn't end up in our favor. Despite some tough breaks, we gave ourselves a chance."

Kendall Dixon and Taylor Gilbert were strong at the net, each registering seven kills.

Jillian Herres counted 20 assists and three ace serves, and Chase Caruso tallied 16 digs and was a perfect nine of nine at the service line.

The Lady Pirates marked a home-court win over Tekoa-Rosalia, 25-19, 25-6, 25-14 on Oct. 18.

"Our girls kept the pressure on TR with tough serving," Van Vogt said. "As a team we hit 94% at the serve line and had 19 aces in three games.

KayLee Schmidt was perfect serving with 16 of 16 and five aces, and Dixon made all nine of her service with two ace serves.

Herres was again good on assists with 18 and also served five aces.

On offense, Dixon pounded nine kills.

"I thought we did a good job of keeping focused for most of the night against a team that had trouble competing against us and did a particularly good job in game two," Van Vogt said.
