Pirate XC finishes season

Pirate Cross Country ran at the 1B/2B Regionals in Chewelah last weekend, with both Samuel Lamb, left, and Cash Copher, right, running well and nearly matching their season-best marks. Coach Greg Sharp, center, says he will miss Lamb's work ethic and looks forward to following his future endeavors.

CHEWELAH–The Pomeroy Pirate Cross Country team of Samuel Lamb and Cash Copher competed at the 1B/2B Regionals here last Saturday, finishing near the back of the 97-runner pack.

"Our athletes ran a great race at the Regional meet against 27 teams in the 2B and 1B combined league run," commented Head Coach Greg Sharp.

Cash Copher came within second of his season personal record, finishing 89th with a time of 23:46.6

"Samuel Lamb had another strong finish, coming within 30 seconds of his season PR," Sharp said. Lamb came in 92nd with a time of 24:32.1.

"I will miss Sam's hard work ethic as he graduates this year, and look forward to what he's able to accomplish in his future, both athletically and academically.

Lamb will be recognized during Senior Night at Friday's football game.
