Hospital District authorizes levy ordinance

Garfield County Memorial Hospital co-CEOs Jayd Keener and Mat Slaybaugh discussed hospital business with the district board including commissioners Erica Stallcop and Mike Field at the last meeting on November 7.

POMEROY–The Garfield County Hospital District board of commissioners passed a levy resolution, discussed a Certified Nurse's Assistant class, and passed the 2023 budget at their meeting on November 7.

The commissioners passed resolution 22-06 which authorizes levy ordinance 2023, for the amount of $226,085.74, including a 1% increase over last year's levy. The amount is subject to change based upon changes in state assessed values. Also passed is the Levy Certification for 2023, which accounts for any of the state assessed value changes and will be signed after the numbers are released later this month.

The board discussed a possible CNA class that is hoped to begin in the summer of 2023. They are currently looking for an instructor, who will be paid by the district.

Resolution 22-07, which was the 2023 budget was passed. A correction of Medicaid contracts beginning in July of 2021 was discussed, which removes over 1,000,000 from the district funds. The 2023 budget reflects the corrected computation for Medicaid contracts.


Also passed was resolution 22-08, authorization to dispose of surplus property in the form of two easy chairs, two sit-to-stand lifts, a chair scale, and two jerry chairs. The surplus property were deemed unfit for any other action but to take to the dump.

Also discussed were the final mass vaccination clinic to be held at the Fairgrounds on November 18, after which vaccinations will be done by nursing appointment at the Pomeroy Medical Clinic, bid openings for the hospital electrical project that will be opened on November 29, and a review of a cumbersome disciplinary process in the medical staff by-laws that has been remanded to the Medical Staff Committee for input before final decision.
