February 2, 2023

POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Health District board passed two resolutions, designated term dates for the board members, and discussed Foundation of Public Health Services (FPHS) funds at their meeting on January 17.

Resolution 2023-01 amended the consolidated contract the District holds with the Washington State Department of Health, increasing the total amount of funds to $2,175,800. Resolution 2023-02 allows the District to apply for five credit cards with a total limit of $14,000.

The board designated term dates for the three non-elected members to coincide with the three elected members. Position One, currently filled by Patty Blachly, will end its term in 2024 coinciding with the terms of Garfield County Commissioners Jim Nelson and Larry Ledgerwood. Positions Two and Three, currently filled by Vonni Mulrony and Patti Weaver, will end their term in 2026, coinciding with the term of County Commissioner Justin Dixon. The board also elected Commissioner Ledgerwood as chairman and Commissioner Nelson as vice-chair. Martha Lanman was elected Board Administrative Officer.

Secretary Laura Dixon reported that the Washington State legislature has designated $100,000,000 to FPHS through the governor’s budget, in addition to previously designated funds, totaling $275,000,000 to be received over the course of two years. The portion of the funding that the District will receive is not known at this time.

The February meeting of the board will be held on the fourth Monday, instead of the usual third.
