ROSALIA–With the final weekend of the regular season ahead, how the Pirates will fare in the post season is still unknown after Tekoa-Rosalia pulled off an overtime upset here Saturday. At this time, it is anticipated that Pomeroy will host a District game at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 9, against a Grape Division team which is yet to be determined, but may likely be Yakama Nation, according the Toddette McGreevy, A.D.

Games against Gar-Pal tonight, February 2, and this Saturday, Feb. 4 at Touchet, will round out the regular season.

The Pirates are 10-6 overall and 7-2 in league, second in the Wheat Division behind 7-1 T-R. In the Grape Division, DeSales leads with a 9-0 record, Sunnyside Christian is 6-1 and Yakama Nation is third at 5-4 with the remaining games to be played.

After beating T-R earlier this season, 67-60, the Pirates sailed to Rosalia for the rubber match, and commanded the entire game until a late surge by T-R, the rally enhanced by Pirate Ollie Severs fouling out with three and one-half minutes to play, said Head Coach Chris Wolf.

"When Ollie fouled out, it changed our offense," Wolf said. "He was pretty much un-guardable. He shot 11-15 [73%] from the field tonight and was great on the offensive boards tonight with four."

T-R tied the game with 34 seconds to play," Wolf said, "and we ran a play to get a shot with not much time left, but didn't quite get the look we were looking for. In overtime, they came out and hit a couple quick shots on us and we weren't able to get the momentum back. The boys played their hearts out and gave it all they had but T-R made a few more plays down the stretch than we did."

Wolf praised the team's defensive effort. "T-R has been scoring around 80 over the last several games," he said. "We could very well see these guys in the postseason, and I know the boys would love another shot at them. Both games have been close, hard-fought games with each team winning on the others' court."

Trevin Kimble guarded their best player, handled the ball, and took charge of the offense scoring a game-high 31 points with five rebounds, and eight assists while taking really good care of the ball tonight, Wolf said. Severs scored 23 points.

At Colton Friday, the Pirates chalked up a good team win, Wolf said.

"We moved the ball well, defended well, and had balanced scoring," he said. "Defensively, we were able to disrupt Colton and take advantage of transition opportunities.

Ollie Severs led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals, followed by Trace Roberts with 15 points and Brady Bott with 11. Trevin Kimble added nine points along with six steals, and six assists.
