PHS All-Class Reunion seeking someone to take the lead

March 16, 2023

POMEROY–The Pomeroy High School Alumni committee seek someone with leadership and organizational skills to guide the All-Class Alumni Reunion annual weekend events into the future.

This year, with the retirement of Wayne and Sharon Davis as co-chairs, the committee is looking for someone or organization to step into a leadership role to help organize and plan the event if it is destined to continue.

There is a willing group of volunteers to help with the event, but at this time, no one is expressing interest to step into the leadership role. The responsibilities have consisted of taking charge of the communication with past graduates, advertising, attention to details, and developing a program for the event with the input and guidance of the committee.

The 2023 Pomeroy High School All-Class Reunion is in question if it is to continue for the June Tumbleweed Days. The All Class Reunion began over 15 years ago under the leadership of graduates from the Classes of 1953 and 1954. As interest grew over the years, others joined the committee to plan and carry out the events.

The reunion grew to over 220 attendees and provided a chance for graduates to reacquaint and connect. A program featuring student leaders and their annual reports along with a PHS principal or the superintendent presentation helped reconnect current events with memories and faces of the past. Stories always seemed to flourish with some accuracy or not, but smiles and laughter were constant with attendees.

The event provided a kick off for the Tumbleweed and Pioneer Day events on Friday as the week end festivities began. The 2022 event saw a reduced attendance to approximately 145 folks following a 2-year hiatus as a result of the Covid 19 shut down.

A fresh set of eyes and leaders may see a vision or plan with something to replace or improve this event.

If you have interest in stepping into the leadership role and continuing or changing this event, you may contact Wayne Davis at [email protected] for more information.
