SUNNYSIDE–A seventh-inning rally by the Pirates sent the game into extra innings but Sunnyside Christian managed a run in the bottom of the eighth for the 7-6 walk-off win. Pomeroy has a 2-5-1 record with a March 31 home stand versus Liberty Christian prior to Spring Break.
The Pirates led 2-1 after three but allowed five Knight runs in the fourth, fifth and six innings before getting two runs across in the top of the seventh for the 6-6 tie.
Sunnyside won 5-2 in the opener. The Bucs took a 1-0 lead with a third-inning run but Sunnyside rallied with two in the fifth and three in the sixth, then squelched a seventh-inning rally for the conference win.

"I thought our players played focused and aggressive in this game," said Head Coach Kyler Lovgren. "[Trevin] Kimble pitched a great game, Brodie [Magill] gave us a good relief and we were able to get a solid close by Trace Roberts. All in all I thought this game showcased our potential."
The 12-6 second game was attributed to numerous errors and loss of focus, Lovgren said.
