Cyndi Hobart will start as 911 Director on May 12.

POMEROY-Cyndi Hobart, Garfield County's new 911 Director, has an extensive background in law enforcement.

Hobart began her career in recreation enforcement with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department in Idaho on her 18th birthday. She worked five years as a dispatcher for the Idaho State Police, where she helped develop their Computer Aided Dispatching program. She also worked as a stenographer and detective's assistant at the Pocatello Police Department, and was record keeper and data entrant for the Southwest Gang Task Force.

Hobart came to Pomeroy in 2018 and began dispatching. She was promoted to dispatch supervisor in 2021, and will begin her Director position on May 12.

"I like small-town law enforcement," Hobart said. "I like getting to know the people I serve." She said her main goal for the position is "to take care of the people in my charge-the dispatchers and the people we serve."
