DAYTON- The Dayton High School (DHS) Associated Student Body (ASB) elections for the 2023-24 school year happened on Monday, May 8. Elections were held in the High School Auditorium towards the end of the school day. The current ASB for 2022-2023 worked on this process with each other to prepare things for the upcoming officers for next year. After each candidate gave their speeches, DHS students were sent back to their classes and given a ballot by their teachers to vote. The results came in and it was a successful election process. The 2023-2024 DHS ASB consists of President Wyntr McCauley, Vice President Nolan Korslund, Secretary Kameryn Tupling, Treasurer Grace Trump, and Public Relations Manager Lila Hutchens. Congratulations to the new ASB officers and good luck in your training for the rest of the school year!

Dayton FFA has worked hard towards the 2023 Washington FFA State Convention by participating in practices and fundraisers. The State Convention was held at Three Rivers Convention Center from May 11-13. During the convention, there were competitions, workshops, sessions, and career booths across the entire building. Many students were able to attend this event from all over Washington. The competitors brought from Dayton FFA to compete at State were Wyntr McCauley, Rosemary Yutzy, Shelby Treib, Alexa Jones, Raymond Yutzy, Colt Clemens, and Vanessa Acevedo. The Quiz Bowl competition took place on Thursday with Raymond Yutzy, Rosemary Tuzy, Colt Clemens, and Alexa Jones. These young FFA members did a wonderful job.

Wyntr McCauley competed in Extemporaneous Speaking on Friday,. Though she did not place in finals, she improved tremendously in sub-districts and districts. On Sunday, Vanessa Acevedo was asked to come up on stage and presented the fifth-place award for the Dayton FFA Chapter Scrapbook. It was a beautiful piece and captured many moments of our FFA year. The chapter members who came along for the State Convention experience learned many things and had so much fun.
