Chase Caruso hopes to wrap her prep golfing career–one that COVID slashed potential state appearances away during her sophomore and junior seasons–with another appearance at the 1B/2B Golf Tournament at Tumwater next week, May 23-24. In 2022, she finished second.

WALLA WALLA–Lead by Chase Caruso and Brady Bott, five of Pomeroy's six golf-team members advanced from the Southeast 1B Sub-District Golf Tournament to the District tourney at Clarkston's Red Wolf Golf Club on May 18.

Caruso continued her winning ways, finishing second out of a field of 15 with a 90 on the 18-hole, par 72 Veterans Memorial course. "Chase's prospects are good," observed Head Coach Al Damron.

Bott also finished high, at second in a field of 20, carding an 87. "He's a solid golfer," Damron said. "We expect him to go to state and play well. He's really brought his game along." In 2022, Bott suffered a broken wrist and this year he has finished first or second at most league matches, Damron noted.

"It was kind of an off day at Sub-District," Damron said. "Scores were high overall."

Kiersten Bartels finished tied for fourth at 108 and Elena Morfin tied for sixth with 112. Grayson Slaybaugh came in seventh at 102. Reggie Ott barely missed the cut with 111.

Five boys and four girls will advance from District to the State tournament in Tumwater, Wash. on May 23-24.
