Pirates going strong into Regionals

RITZVILLE–Eighteen Pirate track and field athletes finished in the money at the District 7/9 Regional meet here May 10. Regionals will be in Colfax May 19 and 20, with the qualifying finishers going to the 1B-2B-1A state meet in Yakima May 25-27.

"Our teams showed well as the boys finished second overall and the girls took eighth," said Head Coach Adam Van Vogt. "We advanced 18 athletes to the regional qualifier, plus relay alternates. A lot of our kids not only moved on but had strong days personally."

Sidney Bales, Tyler Slaybaugh, and Trevin Walton moved on in four events, the maximum allowable,

Personal bests were set by Bales in the 200 (23.96), Samuel Lamb in javelin (98'1"), Walton in long jump (17'11"), Braxton McKeirnan in the 400 (59.66), Katie Boyer in the 100 (13.98), and Haven Kimble in long jump (11.'5").
