Pirate Softball awards held at PHS

The 2023 Pirate Softball team included Taylor Gilbert, Kendyll Potoshnik, Molly Warren, Hannah Bagby, KayLee Schmidt, Clara Jentz, Head Coach Alexis Beale, Jadence Gingerich, Assistant Coach Elizabeth Ruchert, Olivia Cooper, Grace Hart, Caroline McKeirnan, Maria Altube, Isabella Field, Emily Boyd, and managers Giselle Morfin and Camryn Claassen

POMEROY–The 2023 Pirate Softball awards were handed out at the Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School on May 24. Thirteen girls received participation letters: KayLee Schmidt who also received a four-year pin, Taylor Gilbert, Jadence Gingerich, Kendyll Potoshnik, Molly Warren, Hannah Bagby, Olivia Cooper, Grace Hart, Isabella Field, Maria Altube, Emily Boyd, Clara Jentz, and Caroline McKeirnan. Giselle Morfin and Camryn Claassen were managers. KayLee Schmidt and Hannah Bagby were captains this season.

Coaches Awards were given to KayLee Schmidt and Molly Warren for their continual efforts to encourage and raise the team's spirits. Hannah Bagby and Taylor Gilbert received Golden Glove awards, based on statistics. KayLee Schmidt and Jadence Gingerich were awarded Silver Slugger awards, based on batting statistics.

Most Valuable Player was awarded to Hannah Bagby, Most Improved Player to Maria Altube, and Most Inspirational Player to Jadence Gingerich. KayLee Schmidt, Hannah Bagby and Taylor Gilbert received honorable mentions for All-League.

"I couldn't have a better group of girls for my first year coaching," Coach Alexis Beale said.
