POMEROY–Local High School 2023 graduate Jillian Herres and daughter of Hick and Piper Herres, signed her letter of intent to play women's basketball at the Blue Mountain Community College.

Herres began her sports career at an early age and progressively developed her skills in each sport and as time passed, basketball became predominant and where she centered her focus.

"Growing up I was always participating in multiple sports such as volleyball, softball, swim team, and basketball, said Herres. "I began playing basketball when I was five years old and began playing on an AAU travel team when I was eleven. I have played for three different AAU teams leading up to my sophomore year of high school. The team I was on for three years was the LC Warriors and I was coached by the Lewis Clark State College Women's head basketball coach, Caelyn Orlandi," she continued.

Not only will Herres play women's basketball for the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves, otherwise known as "The Wolfies" she intends to advance her education in the science field in hopes to become a dental hygienist.

"At Blue Mountain Community College, I will get my associate of science degree and then transfer to another school to study dental hygiene.

Her time at Pomeroy High School taught her to always look forward, work through the tough parts, and keep putting one foot in front of the other, every day. "My years at PHS have taught me to persevere and to never give up," reflected Herres.
