Peggy Jean Burnette

September 15, 1960–June 18, 2023

Peggy Jean Burnette passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023, at her home in Philadelphia, after a 15-month battle with metastatic colon and liver cancer. It was said by her and heard by many that Jesus was her Savior. We know she is in heaven!

Peggy was born in Dayton on September 15, 1960, to parents Hatsuko and Chester Burnette. She attended Dayton schools, and graduated from high school in 1978. She was active in FFA, FBLA, 4H, Track, Chorus, Trouveres, and National Honor Society.

Peggy was passionate about horses since childhood, and, like the horses, she was determined to be a free spirit. She excelled in natural horsemanship and competed successfully in western horse shows with her beloved horse, Toika. She had a special connection to all animals as they gravitated to her, especially with rescues.

After earning her AA at WWCC, a culinary career was what Peggy chose for most of her working years, which she excelled at. She worked as an Executive Chef and Pastry Chef in several 5-star restaurants and a senior living community in the Puget Sound area. In most recent years, Peggy worked for US Foods as a Division Sales Coordinator.

She is survived by two sisters and two brothers. Mary Ann Dintelman (Roy), Connie Burnette (Jack), John Burnette (Deanna), Jay Burnette (Arlyn). Eleven nieces and nephews, and ten grand nieces and nephews. Last, but not least, her four fur babies.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local small animal rescue or horse rescue, or give a loving home to an animal in need.
