National Night Out brings community together with those who serve

POMEROY-–National Night Out was held at the City Park on August 1.

Community resource entities set up informational and give-away booths, including the Garfield County Hospital District, Garfield County Fire District #1, Pomeroy Ranger District, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, 911 emergency services, Garfield County Public Health District, Garfield County Transportation Authority, Community Sexual Assault Program, Aging and Disability Resource Center, and Pomeroy Partners for Healthy Families Coalition.

“We love to help people, with anything they need,” said Rachel Anderson of Aging and Disability Resource Center.

Other community entities were represented as well, including the Pomeroy Church of the Nazarene and its Catalyst Youth Ministry, which brought a bouncy house to the Park, T-Mobile, and Young Women’s Christian Association.

The Fire District offered its ever-popular ride around town in a fire engine, as well as a new activity–a ‘flaming’ house built by GCFD volunteer Matt Bauska. Kids took turns using a fire hose to knock down swiveling wooden flames.
