The Pomeroy Middle School Cross Country team competed in its first meet September 6.
The Jamboree meet last Wednesday at Spokane Valley Christian School.
Over the one-mile course, eighth grader Melody Zimmerman finished eighth of 21 competitors, 7:46.32. Seventh grader Abram Klippenstein was 38th of 39 in 9:19.32. Sixth grader Dylan Taylor was 35th of 39, 9:01.17.
"Our runners did an excellent job running their first race and I am excited to see what they can accomplish the rest of the season," commented Coach Greg Sharp.
The team's next race in Clarkston at Beachview Park on Saturday, Sept. 9. Sixth grader Dylan Taylor was the only team member able to compete in the warm morning run. In the 1½-mile race, Taylor finished 45th of 74 in 11:48.5.
