City of Pomeroy candidates

Kurt L. Tetrick

Greetings,

My name is Kurt Tetrick, and I am running for Pomeroy City Council Position 3 to continue my life goal of public service.

I grew up in Garfield County and have always felt a need to pay back to this community that has given me so much throughout my life. The people of this community are strong, resilient, hardworking friends. Pomeroy has a rich heritage of people making a difference in other people's lives. Our community has sacrificed and given much to make sure our school, hospital and city/county infrastructures are well taken care of.

After farming in the Mayview area, I accepted a position as the USDA Research Farm Manager at Central Ferry. The farm is a part of the World Seed Bank, and it's been a privilege to be a part of world seed preservation. My 31 years with the USDA Agricultural Research Service have taught me much of the system of government. My current position includes managing the cooperative agreements with the Agricultural Research Service. I am in constant communication with the Army Corps of Engineers, Washington State Department of Ecology, and WSU Crops and Soils Sciences research groups, as well as other local, state, and federal government agencies regarding farm operations.

My work includes building cooperative working relations with research groups utilizing the Central Ferry farm. That requires ethical behavior, neutral decision making, scheduling farm operations, and maintaining equality for all involved on the farm.

Another part of my life experience has been my 27 years serving as a Reserve Deputy for Garfield County. I have seen the struggles of this community, but I have also seen the good that can happen with life-changing choices. As a Reserve Deputy I have done my best to pay this community back for what it has done for me.

I believe that my 31 years of experience with the federal government, 27 years as a Reserve Deputy for Garfield County, involvement in numerous community organizations (FFA Alumni, 4H leadership, etc.) make me a strong candidate for this position.

As a city council member, I will do my level best to help this community become more vibrant and healthier through prudent fund management and forward-thinking planning.

Please consider Kurt L. Tetrick for the Pomeroy City Council position number 3. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I look forward to working with you all!
