Sunnyside Christian defenders saw a lot of this angle of running back Ollie Severs (34) as the Pirate senior rushed for five first-quarter touchdowns and one in the third, making 190 yards for the Bucs on 12 carries. Severs helped defensively with four solo tackles.

POMEROY––The Buccaneers counted their eighth straight win as they steamrolled the Sunnyside Christian Knights 62-0, piling up 42 first-quarter points to start the running clock, one step closer to securing a play off spot in the SE 1B league. Pomeroy is 8-1, standing in second behind Liberty Christian, the only team that has beaten Pomeroy this season, 38-26 in the season opener.

The Pirates travel to 0-7 Yakama Tribal this Friday for the last game of the regular season.

"Five different Pirates had rushing touchdowns, led by Ollie Severs, who rushed for five touchdowns and 190 yards," said Head Coach Kyle Kimball. Sunnyside Christian was only able to muster 18 yards of offense. "We kept the Knight offense on its heels all night," Kimball said.

"Our young guys got some good playing time this evening and continued to move the ball on offense and stimy Sunnyside Christian while on defense," Kimball said. "This team is playing some very good football right now."

The Buccaneers counted nine touchdowns in the first quarter. Severs rushed the first from five yards out, the next from 10 yards out. Jacob Reisinger made the point after on the second of Severs's touchdowns for a 14-0 lead.

Walker Flynn got into the end zone next, then Reisinger followed with a six-yard punch to pay dirt.

Severs scored the next three touchdowns, running 24, 3 and 27 yards to give the Pirates a 40-0 lead. Severs tacked on a pass to Boone Schmidt for the 42-0 first-quarter lead and the running clock was in play.

In the second quarter, Vinnie Vecchio and Braxton McKeirnan both rushed for Pirate scores, and Sunnyside Christian's absence of offense and the running clock wrapped the first half with a 50-0 score.

Severs added one more touchdown in the third quarter and McKeirnan hustled across the goal line on a 14-yard play for the Pirates' final score of the game in the fourth quarter.
