Soldier gives siblings a Veteran's Day surprise

U.S. Army Specialist Tyler Maki surprised his sister Addison and brother Owen by arriving from deployment in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, in time for the Veterans Day ceremonies.

POMEROY-The School District No. 110 student body honored local veterans with a ceremony of songs, poems, a slideshow, a Quilt of Valor presentation, and a surprise return during the ceremony at the High School Gymnasium November 8.

Tyler Maki, sister Addison and brother Owen enjoy a reunion hug as community members look on.

The assembly honored the Pomeroy Veterans and featured poems written by members of the sixth-grade class, a song from the youngest classes of Pomeroy Elementary School, and a slideshow of Pomeroy's veterans.

Quilts of Valor were awarded to Mike Lockard (four years Navy), Dan Lyman (four years Marine), Simeon Crossfield (four years Coast Guard), Frank Slusser (five years Navy), and Tom Frierson (18 years Army) at the assembly.

A secret was revealed when Army Specialist Tyler Maki returned from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and surprised his sister Addison and brother Owen at the Veteran's Day assembly at Pomeroy High School.
